Injured in BCL factional clash, CMC student Akib on life support [Video]

Mahadi J Akib, an MBBS 62nd batch student at Chattogram Medical College (CMC), has been put on life support at Chattogram Medical College Hospital’s (CMCH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after being attacked by rival BCL activists during a factional clash on CMC campus yesterday.

Akib underwent surgery yesterday under the supervision of a medical board comprised of consultants from neurosurgery, neurology, and anesthesia, said Dr Ranjan Kumar Nath, head of ICU at CMCH.

Akib was found unconscious in a bed with a bandage wrapped around his head while visiting the ICU yesterday. A warning remark “no bone here, do not put pressure” was written on the bandage, reports our staff correspondent.

Akib, a Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist and a follower of Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, was injured critically along with two others when they were attacked by BCL activists loyal to former mayor of Chattogram …
